Sushmita Zafar

Sushmita Zafar was born on December 11th. Though her birthplace is Faridpur, she grew up in the capital city of Dhaka. She completed her schooling at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and earned her M.B.B.S. from Faridpur Medical College. She pursued her postgraduate studies in Public Health from NIPSOM, an institution under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

Sushmita enjoys learning new things and engaging in various creative hobbies. She is associated with 'Child Centric Creative Center', an organization working for child awareness and development.

Her writing journey began at the age of 6 with small stories and poems in her homework notebook. In 1999, her first poem was published in the 'Kochi Kacharer Asor' section of the Daily Ittefaq, and her first story was published in the 'Golachhut' section of the Daily Prothom Alo the same year. Between 2007 and 2012, over 50 of her poems and stories were published in daily newspapers, mystery magazines, Kishor Tarakalok, and other monthly magazines.

In 2012, her story 'Hotto Valolaga' won first place in the Valentine's Day special issue of the Daily Sakaler Khobor. She enjoys writing contemporary and horror stories. To date, she has written over 60 stories. Her first book, 'Sweater', was published by Paribar Publications in 2020.
